Win some, lose some: Coca-Cola loses NBA marketing deal to Pepsi

PepsiCo Inc. slamdunked rival The Coca-Cola Co. to take the exclusive marketing deal with the National Basketball Association, Bloomberg reported Monday. Atlanta-based Coca-Cola’s loss comes the same day it announced it took from Pepsi the sponsorship deal with Major League Soccer and the United States Soccer Federation. Bloomberg cited a person familiar with the agreement. Coca-Cola (NYSE: KO) has sponsored the NBA since 1986, “using the All-Star slam dunk contest to promote its Sprite brand.…
