
Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed is making a final attempt to save a deal that would allow filmmaker Tyler Perry to turn much of Fort McPherson into a movie studio.
The deal, which has been stalled for months, would involve Tyler Perry Studios buying 331 acres of the 488-acre former Army base. The issue holding up the project has come into sharper focus: Perry does not want to fund environmental clean-up of the base.
Instead, Mayor Reed is asking the city to extend the U.S. Army a $13 million line of credit…
