University of Georgia puts 865-acre farm up for sale

The University of Georgia plans to sell an 865-acre farm that it's owned since the 1960s. Known as Wilkins Farm and located in Oglethorpe and Wilkes counties, the property has extensive frontage on U.S. Highway 78, according to a Feb. 11 offering document. UGA does not say why it is selling the property. The university's College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences has used the property for beef cattle research related purposes, and its police department has utilized approximately 35 acres…
