Woo Hoo! We won!

That's how it is supposed to be! BC played well in nearly all aspects of the game and beat NC State comfortably. If BC came to play, the Wolfpack clearly did not. This is the same NC State that beat Duke and UNC. Clearly they expected to coast and ran into a focused BC. The best takeaway from the game was that BC played the full 40 minutes and didn't let the W slip away.

-- Defensive rebounding. The best part of the defense was limiting second chance. Leading the charge were our guards. I don't know if Christian told them to hang back and crash the boards, or if this was just a random day, but it made a huge difference.
-- Not folding late. Admit it: when Clifford fouled out with plenty of time left, we all got a bit nervous. But BC converted enough free throws and didn't make too many mistakes.
-- Hanlan stays hot. He didn't score 30, but he still played really well. His early 3s set the tone. He also did more defensively than he's done of late.

One win can make a huge difference. I now believe the guys can make it two in a row when they take on VT Tuesday.

This week under the Gold Dome: Marijuana and taxes

One high-priority piece of legislation stalled in the General Assembly this week while another moved forward. Until this week, a comprehensive transportation funding bill widely considered the first order of business for lawmakers this year was making progress. It had survived two subcommittee hearings in the House of Representatives – although not without substantial changes – and then cleared the full House Transportation Committee. But the legislation got sidetracked on its way to the House…

Watch Out For Deer

Let’s be real. We live in Georgia. Deer are a thing. Deer are totally a thing.   For as long as I can remember, my Daddy’s ‘broken record’ track has always been, “I love you. Watch out for deer.” I would hear it when we left my aunt’s house and my Mom was driving home. […]

Liberty CEO: No plans to sell Braves

Liberty Media Corp. has no plans to sell the Atlanta Braves, its CEO told securities analysts Wednesday. In fact, the potential tax consequences would make selling the club "painful," Liberty CEO Gregory B. Maffei said. Sports teams have grown in value, including the Braves, Maffei acknowledged, and Braves' management has done a particularly good job to build additional value by renegotiating some of their TV contracts and by building a new stadium in Cobb County. But there is no need to "monetize"…

The rising cost of Atlanta restaurant parking

As someone who visits a lot of restaurants, it is easy to spot trends — especially annoying ones like the increasingly abysmal state of restaurant parking in Atlanta.

When it comes to patronizing any business in this city, parking can be a huge attractor or, as is the case with restaurants, an even bigger detractor.…
