Georgia may dump Confederate Memorial Day

A Democratic state senator from Atlanta wants to abolish Confederate Memorial Day in Georgia. Sen. Vincent Fort announced Wednesday he plans to introduce legislation this winter prohibiting the state from designating holidays or officially recognizing the Confederacy in any other way. Currently, Georgia observes Confederate Memorial Day by executive order and Confederate Memorial Month by legislation.
