Addazio doesn't like 7 on 7s

As football becomes a year round sport, 7 on 7 camps and drills are the go to set up for many offseasons. One football guy close to our hearts doesn't think too much of the trend. Last week in an interview with a Tennessee radio station Addazio talked about a variety of BC-related issues and eventually gets to the 7 on 7s. This is what he said:

"You don’t know how people really perform until you put them in those pressure situations, so I equate it to 7 on 7. To me, the 7 on 7 drill in football is kind of a joke. The quarterbacks are throwing, there is no threat of being sacked, or being hit, and there’s really not a heavy contact threat in the back end.”

His argument makes sense. 7 on 7s improve timing or passing routes, but tell you little.

Is it any wonder that Addazio feels so much is missing from 7 on 7s? He's made his living with good line play and running the ball. Both aspects are neutered in passing drills.

Once again, Addazio is a good interview and I like his honesty on the hot topics in college football.

Here’s the headline: Scott Fitzgerald: Scott Walker’s office was involved with open records changes The most important thing to take away is that Fitz and the boys will make another effort to cut you and the world off from legislative records: “I think it’s something that there are many different entities more »

Jet’s Pizza

Jet's Pizza

Until recently I’d never tried Jet’s Pizza, a small chain out of Michigan with some locations around Atlanta. I’d never even heard of them until my brother told me about them, as there is one near his home in Smyrna. They have all kinds of pizza, but the square cut Detroit style is what we’re here to discuss. Specifically, the eight corner pizza with Turbo crust.

Eight corner means they split the pie into two halves so the edges are crispy on every piece. It’s the super greasy style bread that basically fries up in the pan, with the cheese seeping off the edge and getting crunchy and delicious, sort of frico style. The pizza is cooked hard and the pepperonis present excellent cuppage, almost burnt in a perfect way.

I won’t go on and on in detail, but it’s a glorious gut bomb, wrong in all the right ways – she’s a pie that’s fun to ride, but you wouldn’t want your CSA friends to see you on her.

Also, the driver texted me the photo at the bottom here when my pizza was en route. This guy is a marketing genius. Seriously – what a small thing to do to make your business and pizza stand out.
